Pursuant to resolution (XVII) of 18 December , the General Assembly requested the Secretary-General to publish a juridical yearbook which would include certain documentary materials of a legal character concerning the United Nations and related intergovernmental organizations as presented in an outline annexed to the resolution. United Nations Legal Counsel, Mr. Serpa Soares, delivered opening remarks and moderated a side event on the “Choice of procedure under article of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea”, organized by the Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea, Office of Legal Affairs, on the margins of the twenty-seventh Meeting. The United Nations Juridical Yearbook , contains documentary texts of treaties and other materials concerning the legal status and activities of the United Nations and related inter-governmental organizations. It also presents the judicial decisions on questions related to the Organization. A.
The Yearbook. The sixty-eighth volume of the Yearbook of the United Nations presents the work of the United Nations in dealing with recurring conflicts with severe humanitarian consequences in the Middle East, including in the Syrian Arab Republic, where more than 12 million people were in need of basic food, clothing and shelter. The content of the Statistical Yearbook is oriented to serve a general readership. The Yearbook endeavours to provide information for various bodies of the United Nations system as well as for other international organizations, governments and non-governmental organizations, national statistical, economic and social policy bodies, scientific and educational institutions, libraries and the public. The United Nations Statistics Division is committed to the advancement of the global statistical system. We compile and disseminate global statistical information, develop standards and norms for statistical activities, and support countries' efforts to strengthen their national statistical systems. Yearbook of the United Nations With its comprehensive coverage of political and security matters, human rights issues, economic and social questions, legal issues, and administrative and budgetary matters, the Yearbook of the United Nations stands as the authoritative reference work on the annual activities and concerns of the Organization.
